Even if the remote shows it has paired, it may still be unable to take still pictures. In this case, make sure the remote is set to the "photo" mode and the camera's drive mode is set to "self-timer: 10sec/remote," emphasizing the "remote" part.

WTR-2 Timer Shutter: The WTR-2 timer shutter allows you to take 1-199 programmable shots, with the ability to take an unlimited number of exposures. The exposure time can range from 0 seconds to 99 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds, in one-second increments. To get a single exposure, set the "N" value to 1 and start the exposure by pressing the "play" button.
